OPPORTUNITIES FOR PLAYWRIGHTS

Full-Length Plays
Source Festival accepts Full-Length Play submissions by invitation only and 20 finalists have been announced for the 2017 Festival.

Headlining the 10th anniversary season of Source Festival will be a revival production of Topher Payne's PERFECT ARRANGEMENT, last seen in DC in the 2013 Source Festival.

PERFECT ARRANGEMENT by Topher Payne
In a 1950’s Georgetown duplex, Bob and Millie live next door to Norma and Jim, in what appears to be a perfect arrangement. The twist is that all four are gay and have cultivated fake identities outside of their homes, in order to live truthfully inside. The cultural shift of the 1950s brings about a moment of change when their carefully crafted falsehood is thrown into chaos. Topher Payne’s play (based on the historical events of The Lavender Scare) explores this shifting landscape with humor, energy, farce and surprising honesty.

10-Minute Plays
Each year, Source Festival produces a crop of new 10-Minute Plays. Scripts are staged by a wide cross-section Washington theatre directors, from early career to seasoned veterans. The selected playwrights receive a $100 stipend and 5 performances of their play in Source’s 100-seat black box theatre in DC’s buzzing Mid-City District. The Source Festival is driven by creativity, collaboration and invention. The most successful scripts tell an original story in a fresh distinctive voice.

The open call for submissions for Ten-Minute Plays for the 2017 Festival has now passed. For more information about future opportunities to contribute plays, please sign up for our mailing list.
